‘They’re going at it’: Spider-Man star breaks up fight in supermarket


If there was any doubt that Tom Holland is not the perfect Spider-Manit has been squashed with the actor’s latest anecdote.

The Spider-Man star relayed a story in his latest interview withMen’s Health, appearing on the January/February 2025 issue.

They 28-year-old shared that he was once in a Los Angeles branch of the US supermarket chain Whole Foods when his spidey senses tipped him off to a scuffle happening behind him.

He realized that there was a fight going on right behind him in the middle of the grocery store and sprung into action.

“They’re like going at itright behind me,” Holland recalled, after which he says he grabbed one of the parties of the fight and led him away to calm down.

“I can see that he’s recognized me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down,” Holland shared with a laugh.

The actor is regularly in the United States for his career and for love, recently spending the holidays with his girlfriend and Spider-Man co-star, Zendaya.

He spoke about their holiday plans in a wide-ranging interview on the dish podcast

“I am gonna be in America this year, I’ll be with my girlfriend’s family, which will be fun. Where we’ll be is a secret,” he told the podcast’s hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.

He also opened up about his personal relationship, saying that Zendaya is the “best thing that’s ever happened to me”.

The pair, who met while filming Spider-Man: Homecominghave kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight, even as they became two of the world’s most famous actors, only occasionally sharing snapshots of it in interviews or on social media.

Understanding how they each cope with such fame is “where Zendaya and I have been such a strong coupleā€¦ in the spirit of being able to relate with one another on something that is very, very unique,” Holland shared.

He said Zendaya is the “best thing that’s ever happened to me”. (Instagram)

Speaking about the benefits of appearing alongside one another onscreen, Holland said it was a “saving grace” that they had each other, adding: “Best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

“It’s just that perfect thing when you’re on set and a director will give you a note that maybe you don’t agree with, or I know that she doesn’t particularly like, and it’s just that like familiar glance at each other of like, ‘can’t wait to talk about that later,'” the British star said.

And logistically, the pair working together is also cost effective.

“Studios love it, one hotel room,” Holland quipped.
