Surprising thing the Irwin family fights about: ‘Very funny’

It doesn’t seem even the Irwins are immune to some occasional family bickering.

Robert Irwin has revealed the surprising things the legendary Aussie family argue about behind closed doors – including the last thing he fought about with his sister Bindi,

While the wildlife family is known to be a tightknit group, Robert confessed on The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show that they get into arguments over “the most vanilla subjects”.

“It’s the most boring stuff ever,” he told host Jess Rowe about his arguments with mum Terri and Bindi, who is five years older than him.

“We argue about the most vanilla subjects. Like we’ll literally be arguing about the morphology of some animal or prehistoric dinosaur or something,” the wildlife guru said.

“That’s our family bickering.”

The 20-year-old then recalled the last “very funny” but “boring” argument he had with his older sister Bindi when they were teenagers.

Right on theme for the animal guru siblings, the topic was far from a typical teen tiff.

“The last argument I had with my sister was she was adamant that the blue whale is the largest vertebrate animal to ever exist on the planet,” Robert told Rowe.

The wildlife warrior recalled the pair got into a “heated discussion” after he countered there were recognized fossil records of the Argentinosaurus dinosaur.

“We were in this heated discussion like, no, you’re wrong. No, no. We’re looking up articles and this was the argument.”

”And mum just walks in and she goes, really? This is what you’re arguing about,” he said.

Earlier on in the podcast episode, Robert got emotional when discussing his late father, Steve Irwin, who died in 2006 when Robert was just two-years-old.

Robert candidly shared on the podcast that people would come up to him and gush about how Steve Irwin was a father figure to them.

“He was like a father figure for an entire generation,” the 20-year-old told Rowe.

“That is such a beautiful thing. And it makes me emotional. Even now. I lucked out. I really lucked out big time.”

While he only had a “short time” with his dad, Robert recalled the Aussie icon was the “most incredible, dedicated father”.

In February 2024, the Irwin clan commemorated what would have been Steve Irwin’s 62nd birthday with some heartwarming social media messages and throwback pics.

Besides an old photo, Robert opted to share a “special story” for the day about how his dad would take him and his sister on motorbike rides around Australia Zoo.
