“I’ve had what they call a PICC line in my arm delivering antibiotics from a portable bottle 24/7 for 6 weeks. It’s meant that I could leave hospital and continue most of my recovery at home. It’s been restricting and liberating at the same time,” he shared.

“This part of my recovery is now over and with the help of Drs, nurses, physiotherapists, family, friends, you guys and my Jane everything is on track. Rehearsing with @coldchiselofficial this week has topped things off. I can even get back behind the wheel.

The Aussie rocker ended up in hospital in August for a sudden “remedial” hip surgery after he felt pain during a tour of New Zealand.

It led to six weeks of having a peripherally inserted central catheter, which pumped antibiotics straight to his heart.

Before that, he had major surgery in November 2023 with bacterial pneumonia, however, he became very unwell, developing a staph infection which required surgery.

The infection then progressed further causing endocarditis, a life threatening condition that without treatment could have been fatal.

This then affected Barnes’ aortic valve and required urgent cardiac surgery to replace it.
