‘She lost it on me’ Shannen Doherty recalls on-set fight


Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty has recalled an on-set fight with her former co-starJennie Garth,

The actress recalled the incident while chatting to her “favourite co-star from 90210, Brian Austin Green on a recent episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast,

As they reflected on their time on the show, Doherty recalled the moment herself and co-star Jennie Garth got into a heated fight.

“(Jennie) was doing, she was calling it ‘Pants Down Day’ where she would pull the pants on some of the crew members in a funny way and some of them were getting pretty annoyed with it,” Doherty said.

Doherty continued explaining that in response she decided to reverse the gesture.

“She always wore the men’s Calvin Klein boxer shorts under her clothes. So I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. And so I did ‘Skirt Up Day’,” Doherty said.

The retaliation was not well received by Garth, Doherty explained, and lead to a heated fight.

“Oh my god, she lost it on me and I was just not in the mood to back down,” she said.

Green, who starred as David Silver on the popular ’90s soap, recalled rushing to intervene with co-star Ian Ziering.

“I remember at one point when there was a fight out front and Ian and I were there,” he said.

“And so, we were the two that stepped in to, kind of, the middle of it to keep it from escalating.”

Reflecting on their time on set, Green noted that there was noticeable tension between the female cast members that “was not an easy situation to watch”.

“I remember it got really rough and competitive for you all,” he said.

Beverly Hills 90210: Where are they now?

Doherty later added that a lot of the tension stemmed from her presence in the press spotlight.

“I think the expectation that was coming my way was that I should not be doing as much press as I was doing,” she said.

Doherty played the role of lead character Brenda Walsh on the popular TV show from 1990 to 1994 until her character was written out of the storyline after the fourth season.
