Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s probable release date – Here’s what we know so far

Samsung is slated to launch its next smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra; however, the official launch date is yet to be announced. This flagship device is being seen as the brand’s bet against other notable contenders in the segment, including the iPhone 16 series and Google Pixel 9.Â

Reports emerging in South Korea indicate a probable launch date of January 22 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While the launch date is likely to fluctuate between January 22 and 23 depending on the country, it is speculated that the device may make its India debut on January 22 itself. If this rumored launch date stands true, it would mark a departure from Samsung’s usual launch schedule, which has traditionally been a few weeks later.Â

The Samsung Galaxy S25 lineup is expected to include the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and the S25 Ultra. Additionally, there is speculation that Samsung might introduce its Galaxy S25 Slim model as well, though later in the year.

The speculation regarding the launch date gets bolstered by the fact that the Android 15-based One UI 7 version is delayed until 2025, and Samsung might want to integrate its S25 lineup with the latest software, potentially giving it an edge over competitors, given that Google has not been able to offer the latest software with its Pixel 9 models.

Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, set for a broader release in upcoming weeks, may be leveraged by Samsung to power its latest devices. However, several other reports suggest that Samsung might opt for its Exynos SoC for the regular S25 model.

In related news, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to get a more capable ultrawide camera, upgraded to 50MP from 12MP. Additionally, speculations also suggest that telephoto lenses may provide fixed focal lengths. The device is likely to come with the same battery as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, while upgraded processors and RAM may give it an edge in terms of battery efficiency.
