OpenAI integrates search functionality with ChatGPT: Follow THESE simple steps to use it

For those who feel they have had enough of Google’s search engine, OpenAI has introduced a compelling alternative. In what can be seen as an effort to challenge Google’s long-standing dominance in search, OpenAI has integrated search functionality in ChatGPT, called ChatGPT Search.
It has been two weeks since OpenAI unveiled its AI-powered search engine, yet many people are still unaware that Google, along with other search engines, can be replaced by ChatGPT Search.
Note that it can be set as the default engine on all Chromium-based browsers, implying they support downloading extensions from the Chrome Web Store. Therefore, ChatGPT can be set as a default search engine in Google Chrome, as well as several other browsers like Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Brave.
To set ChatGPT as the default browser, follow these simple steps:
• Open Google Chrome
• Search for ChatGPT
• Search extension and ensure that the extension gets added to the browser by checking the extension tab
Ensure that ChatGPT search extension is added to the favorites tray, because, sometimes, browsers may automatically end up disabling the ChatGPT extension.
Currently, the ChatGPT search functionality can be accessed by the company’s Plus and Team subscribers, while access to Enterprise and Education customers is likely to follow in the upcoming weeks. While a specific release date for free users hasn’t been announced, OpenAI says access to free users will be coming soon.
In related news, Apple has unveiled iOS and iPadOS 18.2 software updates into public beta. The update includes new features like an AI emoji generator app, ChatGPT integration with Siri, as well as visual search using iPhone 16 camera sensors.
The new Apple Intelligence features, which were previously available to developers, are now in public beta. Notably, ChatGPT access is free and doesn’t require an account.
