‘Much regret’: ’70s rock icon quits tour after hospitalization


British rockers Bruce Foxton has revealed he’s taking a step back from his band From The Jam after being rushed to hospital for an “immediate procedure”.

The 68-year-old announced that he’s pulling out of the band’s tour to focus on his health and said he’s full of “much regret and sadness” over the news.

In a lengthy statement shared on the group’s Facebook. page, he wrote: ”To all my lifelong wonderful fans, as a lot of you know, my health has not been good for the past few years, and the latest news is that I have had to go into hospital for an immediate procedure.

”It is with much regret and sadness that I will not be able to perform again with From the Jam until I have made a full recovery.”

He added that the group have supported him amid his health woes and that he’s finally taking a break to focus on getting better.

“The band has done everything to help me for the past couple of years and have even suggested several times that I take time off to look after my health and recuperate,” he explained.

He added that he will try and make a return to the tour soon.

“That time has now come, so I wish the band (my dear friends) continued success until I return, and with God’s will, I will see you all in the not-too-distant future on the Setting Sons 45th anniversary tour. Much Love and respect, Bruce.

Fans were quick to send get well soon messages beneath the Facebook post.

According to The SunFoxton had suffered from tinnitus (hearing loss) in recent years.

Foxton rose to fame in the ’70s as part of The Jam, but by 1982 the group disbanded.

He joined the band Stiff Little Fingers, but in the early 2000s he joined Rick Buckler (The Jam’s drummer) in From The Jam.
