Celebrity couple’s bizarre $10k condition in divorce settlement

A celebrity couple known for roles in Hallmark movies has just settled their divorce – but it’s not exactly the split that has people talking.

Actress Shantel VanSanten and Victor Webster, who have been in the process of finalising their divorce since 2023, have included something a little unconventional in their court settlement.

After two years of marriage, VanSanten, 39, and Webster, 51, stipulated in the court filing that custody of their dog Nova will go to Webster.

However, in the documents sighted by Entertainment Tonight VanSanten has been granted visitation rights. And if her time with Nova runs over, she reportedly owes her ex $10,000 for every day the pooch isn’t returned.

That’s right, there’s a $10,000 USD (approx. $14,900) fee for every extra day Nova is not back with his primary carer, Webster.

“We didn’t plan on having three weddings,” Shantel wrote on Instagram in November 2021,

“But when my Grandfather unexpectedly passed away on Father’s Day, the heartbreak was unbearable; I had been planning on him walking me down the aisle in Minnesota. In the midst of my grief, I looked at Victor and said I wanted to do a spontaneous civil ceremony on my grandparents’ wedding date, August 9.”

News of the pair’s divorce went public in 2023 and the reason behind their marriage ending was listed as “irreconcilable differences”.

Webster reportedly filed for divorce in January 2023 and listed their date of separation as the 10th of that month.

VanSanten has not yet publicly commented on the divorce, however, she alluded to the split in an Instagram post earlier this month.

“Let go. Don’t allow yourself to get comfortable existing in spaces where you know you deserve better. Love is not meant to hurt,” the actress wrote.

“Love is not meant to be given in the bare minimum… There is power in letting go of anything that is forcing you to let go of yourself. Don’t ignore what you know in your heart.”
