It’s a tale as old as time.
Every now and then an artist manages to pick an opening act that resonates so well with the audience, the tour skyrockets them to fame.

“It was incredible,” said drummer Neve van Boxsel of the moment they got the call inviting them on tour.
She explained that a while back they played at Ohana Festival in California, which is Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder’s event.
“I think he sussed us out from that,” she added.
And while they’ve had plenty of memorable moments touring alongside Vedder and his band, they say there is one in particular they’ll never forget.

“Then in our show in Melbourne the other day, Eddie came on stage before we played and he introduced us and said some really nice things and that was really cute. He’s so sweet and we love him.”
Earlier this week, a clip did the rounds on social media of Vedder taking to the stage two hours ahead of his own performance to praise Teen Jesus for how “gracious” they were about having their set cancelled.

And while it’s a moment they’ll cherish forever, the Aussie band say that the warm welcome came as a shock to them.
“It’s so nice because I feel like usually headliners aren’t even there when we play sometimes,” van Boxsel laughed. “So for him to introduce us was amazing.”
Teen Jesus are nominated for the Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist Award at this year’s ARIA Awards, and they’re the first non-male group to be nominated for the award in almost two decades.
