Amy Poehler on her friendship with Tina Fey


Amy Poehler has reflected on her decades-long friendship with fellow actress and comedian, Tina Fey.

Speaking exclusively to 9honey Celebrity as she celebrates her new film, Inside Out 2Poehler, 52, says she’s “grateful” for their friendship.

the pair worked together on SNL, Mean Girls, Sisters over the years and have been thrilling fans on their Restless Leg Tour. They’ve even hosted the Golden Globes together.

“We’ve been friends for over 30 years, we’ve been touring together recently and it’s been a blast,” Poehler says.

“It’s really great to have a partner who has had a long experience with you, we had a lot of similar things happen at the same time and there’s nothing better than laughing with someone.

“It’s really when you feel most connected to them so I’m grateful to have my old friend in my life.”

Poehler is back in Australia promoting her new animated film, Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2.

“I feel very honoured to be back,” she says. “This our good luck charm, starting here,” she explains, having also travelled to Australia when the first film came out back in 2015.

In the films, she voices the emotion and character of Joy.

About doing voice acting, the Parks and Recreation star says it’s been a great experience.

“It’s so fun… you need a lot of energy to play her (Joy) and you get to make really goofy, big choices. I really like it as you can get lost in the imagination and what it’s going to be and they hand it back to you and it’s better than you can even imagine,” she says.

“I love her little look. I think she’s part muppet, part Peter Pan, this old-fashioned pixie has a lot of Tinkerbell about her, she’ has a roll up your sleeve energy that I love about her and when I saw the first drawing I was blown away.”

She jokes: “I want to apologise to the people that will hear my voice for weeks and months to come because the films Pixar make just stick in people’s psyche at any age and I’m thrilled to be a part of it in anyway!”

Disney & Pixar’s Inside Out 2 hits Australian cinemas on June 13.
