Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed he recently had a pacemaker implanted after undergoing three open-heart surgeries over the years.
On the recent episode of his podcast Arnold’s Pump ClubThe 76-year-old actor shared he was recovering well after undergoing surgery for the pacemaker last week.
“Last Monday, I had surgery to become a little bit more of a machine: I got a pacemaker,” he said.

“First of all, I want you to know I’m doing great! I had my surgery on Monday, and by Friday, I was already at a big environmental event with my friend and fellow fitness crusader Jane Fonda,” The Terminator star and former California governor assured.
“Nobody would ever have thought I started the week with a surgery.”
“I want to thank my whole team at the Cleveland Clinic. All of the doctors and nurses took amazing care of me and made the surgery as painless as possible.”
The Hollywood star, who was born with a heart defect, had his pulmonic valve and aortic valve replaced in two open-heart surgeries in 1997.
Schwarzenegger then underwent surgeries in 2018 and 2020 to replace both again.

In 2023, the actor revealed he almost died during his third open-heart surgery back in 2018 to replace his pulmonary valve, after suffering internal bleeding.
In a candidate YouTube clip, Schwarzenegger said the doctors were operating on him in a ‘non-invasive’ surgery to replace his valve, which then went south in the surgery.
The actor recalled being told the doctors “made a mistake and poked through the heart wall” meaning the bodybuilder had to be opened up to stop internal bleeding.

The twins star also shared unseen footage of him using a walker post surgery in 2018, telling fans on his podcast he was sharing the story to motivate others on their fitness.
“I don’t love seeing myself with the walker. But I want you to know that even if you think you’re too old, too out of shape, or too unhealthy, we all have times when we have to start from nothing, ” he said.
“And I want you to know that even though you see me as Mr. Universe and the Terminator, I’ve also had to start from scratch,” he added.
