Stars are remembering the life and legacy of music producer Quincy Jones,
Jones, known for working with the likes of Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra, died aged 91 on Sunday (Monday AEDT).
Oprah Winfrey is mourning the loss of her “beloved” friend, posting a heartwarming tribute to the musician on Instagram.

The duo is pictured in an old photo, standing arm-in-arm.
“My beloved Q. The world’s beloved Q. The one and only Quincy Jones ‘discovered’ me for The Color Purple movie in 1985,” Winfrey wrote.
“My life changed forever for the better after meeting him. I had never experienced, nor have since, anyone whose heart was so filled with love.”

Fellow musician Justin Timberlake also shared a tribute to Jones, describing him as a “once in a lifetime artist” alongside a 2017 photo of the pair.
“His list of accolades goes on and on,” he continued.
“The example of excellence at craft. A mentor to so many that have followed. Growing up listening to so many of his timeless works shaped so much of the music that I wanted to make or be a part of. The maestro behind so many of my favorite artists.”
Fellow The Color Purple star Whoopi Goldberg wrote an emotional message to her “dear friend.”
“I was lucky enough to have him in my life for all these years,” Goldberg wrote. “My heart is breaking for his friends & his extended family who loved and adored him…my condolences.”
Elton John was also left devastated by Jones’ death, taking to Instagram to share his personal message.

“Nobody had a career as incredible as Quincy Jones. He played with the best and he produced the best. What a guy. Loved him,” he wrote.
Olympian Cody Simpson shared a throwback photo from his time as a musician, showing him arm-in-arm with Jones.
“Rest in paradise Quincy. You were a master, an innovator, the mind and hands behind some of my favorite music of all time. From Sinatra to MJ. Thank you for your inspiration and your wisdom,” Simpson wrote.

American rapper and actor Ice Tea paid tribute to the “genius” music producer who he won a Grammy Award with after collaborating on the 1989 track Back on the Block,

“I woke up today to the Terrible news that we lost Quincy Jones.. Genius is a description loosely used but rarely deserved. Point blank, Quincy was the MAN. I won my 1st Grammy with Quincy and I live with his Wisdom daily,” he wrote on X.
Hollywood great Michael Caine shared a tribute for his birthday twin.
“My celestial twin Quincy was a titan in the musical world. He was a wonderful and unique human being, lucky to have known him,” Caine said on X (both Caine and Jones were born March 14, 1933).

Actor Colman Domingo recalled meeting Jones in a personal message.
“He asked, where are you from? Philly I replied, his eyes twinkled and he talked about the Uptown Theatre. I was so thrilled to meet Mr. American Music itself. I literally kneeled because he was a King. Thank you Mr. Quincy Jones for giving us all the sound.”

Hit that cemented Quincy Jones as powerful music figure
“We’ve lost a pure unadulterated genius. 20th century music carries his imprint,” playwright Lynn Nottage paid tribute to Jones.
American singer and pianist Harry Connick Jr. said that Jones was his “hero”.
“My hero. truly one of the greatest minds the music world has ever known. he was so kind to me, so wonderful, such an influence. his legacy and his music will live forever. thank you for everything, Q. you were the dude,” he wrote on Instagram.

Abel Tesfaye, who goes by the stage name The Weeknd, posted a black and white photo of him with the music producer.
“The reason,” he said with a red heart emoji. “Thank you for everything Mr. Quincy Jones.”
Acting icon Morgan Freeman said the producer had “left an enduring legacy” behind.
“Today, we say goodbye to the legendary Quincy Jones – a musical giant whose genius reshaped our world and left an enduring legacy. Rest well, Quincy. #legend.”

Former professional basketball player Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson Jr. shared a length message along with a few photos of him and Jones over the years to
“I’m deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and an all-time icon, Quincy D. Jones. Quincy had an exceptional ear for music,” he wrote.
“Through his incredible talents as an artist, composer, and producer, he exemplified true artistry and innovation throughout his unmatched career. There will never be another Quincy D. Jones!”
Former US president Bill Clinton shared a statement, remarking that “Few people have ever matched Quincy Jones’ impact on American and global culture.”
