Moonlighting star Cybill Shepherd has praised her former co-star Bruce Willis after their public 30-year-long feud.
The actress recalled her days on set with the then-newcomer, joking with Us Weekly that, “He had more hair when we started.”
She shared their struggles filming the detective show together, recalling, “They would write a scene anywhere from seven to eight pages long of us – Bruce Willis and I – in the car while we’re driving.

“We’d have to tape up those pages along the front part of the car, because they were given to us at the last minute. We had to improvise using a script, say, seven to eight pages long.
“They couldn’t show the front of the car because we had the pages stuck up there with Scotch tape.”
The 74-year-old added that Willis, 66, “was always very funny” on set when they worked together.

But she didn’t always find him so hilarious.
The pair were renowned for their long-running feud, which sparked during the early days on set of the show.
Shepherd and Willis portrayed two detectives in the OG “will-they-won’t they” debacle, with the characters eventually finding love on the series that ran from 1985 to 1989.

The two stars were evidently aware of their chemistry from the very beginning, and if rumors are to be believed, they had a fling which caused their relationship to turn sour.
Moonlighting co-star Curtis Armstrong released a book a few years ago, Revenge Of The Nerd, in which he spilled a lot of behind-the-scenes gossip about the pair.
“(Bruce) intimated to me that there had been one disastrously ill-conceived ‘thing’ between him and Cybill, early on in the show’s run,” he wrote.

“While not going into explicit details, he made it clear that that kind of mistake was one I should be sure never to make.”
The stars themselves have never confirmed the reason why the feud began.
By the end of the series, they couldn’t even bring themselves to look each other in the eye, with editors having to “artificially slow down to give the impression that they were looking into each other’s eyes.”

The pair’s relationship seems to have mellowed out over the years, with Willis inviting Shepherd to take part in his Comedy Central Roast in 2018nearly three decades after the finale of the show.
In her hilarious speech, she said: “Our characters on Moonlighting weren’t much of a stretch. I played a former model, which I was, and he played an a–hole, which he is… I know we haven’t had a conversation in 30 years, but we’ll always have something more important: residuals.”
Given Roasts are generally done in good nature, all the signs suggested the pair were at least amicable years on.
In 2022, she commented after news broke of Willis’ aphasia diagnosis, telling Extra that she “will always love Bruce.”
