Green Day announces first Australian tour in eight years


green day has announced they are finally making their grand return to Australia after eight years.

Global superstars Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool are heading Down Under for the Aussie leg of their The Saviours Tour,

Taking place in March 20205, it will be Green Day’s biggest live performance of all time, with the musicians confirming they will play two major fan favorites on stage.

The iconic band is set to perform American Idiot and Dookie in full, along with songs from the new album Saviours and other hits.

For the first time since 2017, rockers AFI are also making their highly anticipated return to our golden shores as special guests of Green Day. Local guest performers have yet to be confirmed or announced.

The band’s official Instagram account shared the news of the tour to 5.5 million followers.

“We can’t wait for The Saviors Tour!!! We’re playing Dookie in full 🤘 We’re playing American Idiot in full 🤘 We’re playing some new songs 🤘 We’re playing some old songs 🤘 Don’t miss out on getting those tickets!!!” the message reads,

Kicking off in Melbourne at the Marvel Stadium, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool will start the tour on March 1st.

The next stop will be Engie Stadium in Sydney on March 3, followed by CBUS Super Stadium on the Gold Coast on March 5.

Green Day will also be celebrating its 20th anniversary since the release of Dookietheir breakthrough album, which was followed by American Idiot ten years later, in 2004.

the band’s bassist told The Daily Telegraph: “Australia has always been a big stop for us

“I feel like you guys really understand rock ‘n’ roll, and it’s great to be around people that… celebrate rock ‘n’ roll and have so many great heroes to its name.”

Fans can buy tickets during the artist pre-sale on September 16 at 1 pm on the Gold Coast, 2 pm in Melbourne, and 3 pm in Sydney.

The CommBank MasterCard and Vodafone pre-sale opens on September 17 at 10am for Gold Coast, 11am for Melbourne, and 12pm for Sydney.

Live Nation’s pre-sale will be held on September 19 at 11am for the Gold Coast show, 12pm for Melbourne, and 1pm for Sydney.

Tickets for the general public will be available on September 20 at 12pm on the Gold Coast, 1pm in Melbourne, and 12pm in Sydney.
