Gwyneth Paltrow returns to acting after five years


After a five-year hiatus, gwyneth paltrow is returning to acting.

The actress and Goop founder, 51, is set to join Timothée Chalamet in Josh Safdie’s upcoming A24 film Marty Supremeper The Hollywood Reporter,

Her role in the new film is the first acting role she has taken in five years; the Oscar-winning actress took some time off to focus on her wellness and lifestyle brand Goop.

Her last time on the big screen was in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, and she appeared on the small screen with the Netflix series The Politician that same year.

During her long career, Paltrow has starred in several notable films including 1998’s Sliding Doorsthe 1995 cult classic Seven and 1998’s Shakespeare in Love,

Her performance in the latter earned her an Oscar for Best Actress.

This new role will see Paltrow star alongside Chalamet for the first time. The 28-year-old actor is known for his roles in films including Dune, Wonka, call me by your name and Little Women,

Chalamet will also take on a role as one of the film’s producers.

It will also be produced by Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Ronald Bronstein, Safdie and the production company A24.

During the film’s plot has been kept under wraps for now, Marty Supreme is based on an original screenplay cowritten by Safdie and Bronstein.

It has been rumored the film will be a fictionalised film loosely based on the story of a pro ping-pong player, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Last year, Gwyneth opened up about her break from acting sharing that her work with Goop kept her too busy to act.

“Well it would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job,” she told ET during the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards last November.

”But I guess Robert Downey Jr., could probably always get me back. You know, to some degree,” she added of her Avengers costar.

It seems she has had a quick change of heart since that interview with her return to acting coming nine months later.
