’80s crooner Freddie Jackson is battling kidney disease,
The R&B singer shared the news on social media, telling his fans that after “a lot of thought and reflection” he feels ready to talk about this chapter in his life.
“I have been diagnosed with kidney disease,” Jackson, 67, said.
“This journey has had its challenges but I’ve decided to face it with openness and resilience.”

He said it has become important to him to share his story, “not just as a part of my personal story, but as a way to make a positive difference.”
Jackson announced he had partnered with the National Kidney Foundation to raise awareness about kidney health and provide support for those who are affected by kidney disease.

He thanked his followers for their support.
“As I take this step, I’m turning my personal experience into a platform for greater understanding and advocacy,” he said.

He ended his video by saying: “Thank you for your encouragement, your love and your support. It means more to me than I can express.”

Kidney Health Australia reports approximately 1.8 million Australians are unaware they have signs of kidney disease.
Early signs of kidney disease can include weight loss, swollen feet and ankles, tiredness, itchy skin and trouble sleeping.
